What the Medical group paper tests

Every question comes from MD General Medicine at the level of the postgraduate exit curriculum: its general and basic component and all of its system components. Whether you want Cardiology or Nephrology, you sit the same General Medicine paper, and your rank in it decides which DM you get. Read the full NEET SS pattern, including the three time-bound sections.

Our system-wise tests follow these blocks of the General Medicine syllabus, a practical way to plan your revision:

  • Cardiology
  • Neurology
  • Gastroenterology and hepatology
  • Nephrology
  • Endocrinology
  • Rheumatology
  • Haematology
  • Infectious diseases
  • Respiratory medicine
  • Critical care
  • Environmental medicine and poisoning
  • Dermatology, psychiatry and pharmacology

NEET SS Medicine cut-off

Medical group qualifying cut-off, out of 600
CycleCut-offNote
NEET SS 202522550th percentile, result of 23 January 2026
NEET SS 2025 (revised)17530th percentile, NBEMS notice of 22 September 2026
NEET SS 202429950th percentile

The swing between 2024 and 2025 shows how much the percentile score depends on the paper’s difficulty. Qualifying only makes you eligible for counselling; the DM you get depends on your Medical group rank against the seats MCC offers.

How to prepare for NEET SS Medicine

  1. Start from previous-year questions. They show which General Medicine topics the Medical group keeps returning to; read those chapters in Harrison’s first.
  2. Revise one system at a time and test it the same week. A full sectional straight after a system shows what did not stick while it is still cheap to fix.
  3. Go round the systems twice. A second, faster pass in the final two months is where most of the marks are made.
  4. Don’t skip the short subjects. Dermatology, psychiatry, pharmacology, poisoning and critical care are a few questions each, but they decide ranks.
  5. Switch to full mocks in the last six to eight weeks, sat as three 50-minute blocks, and keep wrong answers low: fewer wrong answers is the first tie-breaker.
