Why PYQs are the backbone of super-speciality revision

NEET SS and INI SS test a huge syllabus in a short paper, but the questions are not spread evenly across it. Past papers show which topics keep coming back, how much detail the examiners expect and how the distractors are built. Revising through them first tells you where to spend the hours you have left.

Every Duramater mock is built around PYQs and the concepts behind them, so the same high-yield ideas you meet in the bank show up again under exam conditions. Read how each exam is set in the NEET SS guide and the INI SS guide.

How to use a PYQ bank, step by step

  1. Start untimed. Open the PYQ bank for your subject in practice mode: answers and explanations are revealed as you go, and your progress is saved so you can stop and resume.
  2. Bookmark every miss. Anything you got wrong or guessed goes into your bookmarks, so your revision list builds itself.
  3. Revise by topic, not by question. When three misses share a topic, that topic needs a re-read from your standard textbook, not just the explanation.
  4. Then test under the clock. Move to the PYQ-based timed mocks in your series to check recall at exam speed, with negative marking.
  5. Close the loop. In the last weeks, go back through your bookmarks on spaced intervals (1, 3, 7, 14, 30 days) instead of re-reading everything.

PYQ FAQ

Why should I revise with previous-year questions for NEET SS and INI SS?

Super-speciality exams return to the same high-yield concepts session after session. Previous-year questions show which topics are asked, how deep the questions go and how options are framed, so your revision follows the exam instead of the whole textbook.

How many PYQs does Duramater have per subject?

More than 300 previous-year questions in each subject, including General Medicine and General Surgery. The subject banks and their exact question counts are listed on this page and update as banks grow.

Do the PYQs come with explanations?

Yes. Every question has an explanation in the answer sheet, and you can bookmark it for revision.

Are the PYQ banks timed?

No. PYQ banks run in practice mode with no time limit and answers revealed as you go. For timed practice, use the PYQ-based mocks in each test series.

Which subjects have PYQ banks?

Cardiology, Neurology, Rheumatology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology and Endocrinology have subject PYQ banks, and General Surgery a PYQ repository; General Medicine PYQs come as a run of PYQ-based mocks in every INI SS medical series. See the table on this page for the current list.
